frequently asked questions

What is an IBCLC?

IBCLC’s (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants) are certified healthcare professionals trained in the clinical management of breastfeeding.

I provide mothers and healthcare professionals with evidence-based education on breastfeeding and lactation. I’ll help you reach your personal lactation goal, and assist you with issues including low milk supply and pain as a response to pumping.

My breastfeeding issues seem unsolvable, how can you help?

I have been assisting mothers and babies with breastfeeding for years. I have seen many complicated issues and have helped many families overcome them. I have experience in multi-faceted breastfeeding matters. However, if I am unable to help you, I will be able to steer you in the right direction for further specialty care if I think it is appropriate.

Do You Accept Insurance?

Under the Affordable Care Act, many insurance companies are required to cover preventative lactation services without any additional costs or copays. All of the visits are eligible through your insurance and/or through your health savings account or flexible spending account. At this time, I am not an in-network provider with any insurance company. However, I do work with The Lactation Network for coverage of some insurance plans. Click here to see if you qualify. If your insurance does not participate with The Lactation Network, at the end of our visit I will provide you with a superbill to make getting reimbursed from your insurance as easy as possible! Please contact me if you have any additional questions about insurance coverage or a superbill.

Will You Wear a Mask at our Visit?

I absolutely will be wearing a mask at our in-home visit. I take the healthcare of my clients and their families very seriously. I have been fully vaccinated. All of my equipment and anything brought into your home will be completely sanitized from any previous visits to other homes. I practice universal precautions and wear gloves while touching you and your baby. If you have any concerns about Covid, please contact me prior to our meeting.

What areas do you serve in Florida?

I primarily offer In-Home Lactation Consultations in Pensacola Florida, Gulf Breeze, Milton, Pace, Ferry Pass, Brent, Cantonment, Ensley, Avalon, Bellview, Navarre, Perdido Key, Bagdad, and the Pensacola Navy Base.  If you’re looking for a Lactation Consultant and don’t live in these areas, I can visit you in Destin FL, Fort Walton Beach, Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, and Foley Alabama for a small fee.  If you aren’t sure if you are too far out, please contact me and we can discuss it. You can even sign up for a Virtual Lactation Consultation!

I already had help with lactation from someone else or in the hospital, how can you help me?

If you are still struggling after getting some lactation advice or assistance, please know that not all lactation consultants are created equal. It is very important that you feel comfortable with the person that is supporting your breastfeeding journey; that they understand your goals and together you arrive at solutions that are both realistic and beneficial. Starting out, breastfeeding can be a very intimate and overwhelming experience. It is important you find someone you can absolutely trust.

Can I text you if I have question?

Of course! I will answer all questions about booking a visit via text. After you have signed a waiver acknowledging that texting is not a HIPAA compliant way of communicating, we can text each other. If you feel more at ease using a HIPAA compliant manner to communicate, you can email me instead. I don’t mind answering a quick or simple question by text, but if it has been a while since our last visit or you have are having a brand new issue that we have never had a consult about, I will need you to book a follow-up visit so that we can give your issue the complete and full attention that it needs.
