Benefits of an Initial Postpartum Lactation Consultation

Once mom and baby are at home, I will visit you and your baby to make sure that everything is going well with breastfeeding. This consult is either for reassurance of breastfeeding going well or for any problems or issues that are occurring.

It is best to schedule an Initial Postpartum Lactation Consultation within the first few weeks after your baby is born. The earlier you get help, the more likely you are to successfully establish breastfeeding.

A lactation consultant is a specially trained healthcare professional who can help you with all aspects of breastfeeding, from latching to milk production. I will work with you to create a breastfeeding plan that is tailored to your individual needs.

During your Initial Consultation, your lactation consultant will assess your baby’s latch, check for any potential tongue-tie issues, and help you with positioning. They will also answer any questions you have about breastfeeding and provide you with resources and support.

The initial postpartum lactation consultation is a critical component of successful breastfeeding. It provides an opportunity for myself, or other lactation consultants to assess the mother and baby’s latch, tongue-tie, and oral anatomy. In addition, we can provide information on milk production, pumping, and storage.

This consultation is important because it allows the mother to ask questions and get support in the early days of breastfeeding. It is also an opportunity to assess any potential problems and provide solutions.

If you are a new mother, I encourage you to schedule an initial postpartum lactation consultation. It could be the key to a successful breastfeeding experience. Sign Up today!
